Saccharin is non-nutritive sweetener and considered to be low calorie substitute for cane sugar. Saccharin is more than 500 times sweeter than sugar. Saccharin is primarily produced in two type’s i.e. soluble and insoluble saccharin. The soluble saccharin (in water) is called Sodium Saccharin whereas insoluble saccharin is called insoluble saccharin.
Saccharin is produced in two physical forms, viz granular and powder.
